Ok so this year, grade 12, my favorite teacher of all time, by far, is retiring after first semester. I can't even start to explain why hes the greatest teacher but trust me, everyone else loves him too, and the ones that dont like him, he doesnt like them for a reason so sh*t goes 2 ways lol.

His course is "Technological Design" and we pretty much do anything and everything from technical drawings to building rockets(see pic of my beast that went the highest and did everything perfectly).

Just because of how he is, you can pretty much build anything you want, well except a intence spud canon. I asked him and he said sorry man, you cant, id have to bring mine in. Lol hes great but yeah he'd get in sh*t for something like that. but anyway, i want to design and build something intence. the problem is, the range is so big(anything) so i can't decide. I just need some good ideas of something complex for my last project in highschool. I was almost thinking build something crazy for him then just give it to him as a retirement gift. So any ideas would be helpfull to get the ideas flowing. Oh, forgot to mention, I'm asking now, even before school starts, because we have all semester for the project and deciding what to do is the biggest problem.

Stuff to keep in mind...

I have accsess and know how to use:
-Medium sized manual mills
-Small CNC mill
-metal/wood lathes
-computer design software(solidworks/autocad)
-mig/stick/tig welders
-like every wood tool you could ever need(and then some because he'd bring his own stuff in for me to use if he had it)
-and all my dads work stuff too(they build custom machines for other companies)

so im pretty much setup to make anything, but i have 4 months to build it.

Hit me with ideas. i like technical sh*t. i was thinking of that spud canon before, but i wanted to make a revolver with several chambers that shot continuesly :D so, that gives you an idea of the kinda stuff id want to do.

this is my computer cooling tower sh*t. it works but i decided against using it. 6 fans on a tripple rad with the tinted plexi glas and underneath is the pump, resevoir, tubing, wiring and power supply.

and this is my T sqaure i made. its acualy 2 identical pieces but i took one and set it up on one of the mills and milled out a section to 1.5mm then they were glued together then epoxied the straight edge inside, ending up with a clean square. the design isnt that complex but the cool part is how i did that.

all that work typing it up and i ended up deciding myself...

but anyways, might as well say what it is since its pretty damn epic.

building a nitro powered, mini rc quad. and guess what its going to be a model of? yeah thats right, my orange beast. this sh*ts going to be insane. im going to be buying a nitro engine, steering sh*t, wheels and all the rest of the nessasary stuff then ill be making the frame from scratch along with everything from axle to a-arms. so its going to have full steering, possibly chain driven if i could find a motor capable. also it will have a full suspension system. and also im molding the plastics to be exactly the same. we have a setup at school to do the vaccum moldings and that stuff and i can make all the plastics look legit.

if i can acualy do this, which im sure i can, its going to be sick. ill keep you all updated.

dude thats gonna be insanely awesome cant wait to see the turnout

man im pumped. but i feel like im missing something important lol. you know those times when you have a big idea and then miss something really clear but it takes someone else to point it out. i was hopping someone would acualy read all my bambling and mention somehting important before i get to far ahead of myself.

im thinking about 1.5 - 2 feet long(no idea what scale, ill have to figure that out later)

except for not gay as f*ck.

why did you TRY to be a buzzkill? good thing you failed lol.

mine is going to be as identicle to a real blaster(well mine) as possible. im aiming for an identicle frame, a-arms and swingarm atleast. i might have to do something different for plastics, but maybe not, i may be able to make sick ones.

TRY to be a buzzkill? Excuse me for posting a link. Your talking about building a nitro atv for a school project and I posted a link to one. I posted the link to show you that theres one out there. Its always easier to use parts from something else when building a project instead of trying to fab every piece from scratch

there are a few nitro powered rc quads out there, however they are just a 1/8th scale monster truck with a quad body on. I have never seen one which actually has swing arms and a quad type frame, but if it works it will be insane.

That was kinda my point for posting the link to the kyosho quad. It uses a swingarm with a mono shock and an actual chain to drive the rear tires. You can also buy parts for it so it would be easier to buy the rear end assembly and then mount it to a custom chassis.

yeah but you know i strive for originality. i searched for awhile and saw those but thought they were electic. ive got plenty of random model parts at school that this teacher has collected. im talking tons of sh*t. i think i already found my rear shock. it has billet aluminum eyes and adjustable rebound. sh*ts legit. all im doing the next couple days is looking through boxes of cool sh*t to use lol.

I have the Traxxas 2.5 T Maxx. Ive upgraded the engine to the 3.3. For being a heavy truck this thing scoots. This will be a very cool project. Try looking through the rc parst on ebay and you can probably find every thing but the frame and swinger for your project.

Who i really need to talk to is paulie. yo paulie if you have any extra parts, let me know i need to start buyin sh*t. also id like your expertise, your buggy is epic.
