Custom air intake. Opinons on it?

I fabed up an air intake I think that will work nicely. Its not quite finished. I'm still thinking of what I could use a shield. I was thinking a clear container that would cover the filter and then cut slots in it so it can breath. That will keep the mud of of it.
I have it cleaned up and painted gray to match the frame. I think it will work great.
I closed off my stock a/f housing so I have some storage. It came in very handy when I took it last fall on a weekend trip. I want to keep it.

You can bend up some thin sheet metal into a box.

Why did you go outside the frame?

Because it doesn't fit on the inside. Wanted a long straight pipe and less corners.

I think I found what I'm looking for already. Just got to call them monday and see what the ID size is on it.

creative idear ya got!! I like it but just make sure the filter is getting plenty of air. maybe some mesh on the top but mud would get in there.

It was. When I got over 1/2 throttle it popped. It did that twice so I pull off the pvc and it was much better. I fabbed up a 6" long one. But I don't like how it sits right above the chain. I can see alot of water and mud covering it in the future. Maybe its time to look into a cfm air box. I have only so much funds to go around.
