Crankcase cover

My crankcase cover has a small air leak. Does that mean my crank seal is leaking as we'll?

Sorry forgot to mention, but it's on the stator side? If there was a leak on any side, would the main crank seals be leaking as well?

Not necessarily. You can be sure by doing a leak down test. You probably just need a new gasket.

Ok that's what I was doing but had a major leak at intake so wouldn't pressurize. However I could still see a small leak at the cover. How does air get into that area if not through the main seal?

out thru the main seal, just like you suspect,
time to open the cover, pull the flywheel and spray the soapy water right on the seal while applying the leakdown test pressure (6-7 psi. max)
