any advice ill try so far ive tried big and small screw drives, the dry wal screw thing, and needle nose, so far none have worked i just cant think of anything else is there a special tool i could buy or anything
zwiser, take an old flat head screw driver and heat up the tip with a propane ect torch. Then bend the tip to a 90 degree angle and let cool naturally.Tehn when cool put it behind the crank seal and pull like a mofo
Mapp gas torch if the screwdriver tip was good quality steel.
You'll need at least 1600o F metal temp before it will be pliable enough to bend it easily. It'll have to be glowing a nice light orange before it's going to simply bend over.
Dualstroke is CERTAINLY onto something here. I have a flatblade screwdriver with the tip bent over just for doing what he's talking about. There is no easy way to dig that seal out without the type of specialty tool he's telling you how to make.
Go to sears. Buy a hook and pick set. Will have 5 tools in it.
I just stick the 90 deg one in here an pull um out.
They are cheap, under $20 and u will use them for all
Kinds of stuff. They are invaluable for getting o rings on and off
Sorry you are having such trouble with this, bud. There is a special tool for seal removal that you could buy from a place like NAPA. A seal remover (popper) has two hooks on the end of a handle, the handle is used like a lever. Auto mechanics use them for wheel bearing seals. Should work like a charm and cost about $20.
