Crack, should i be leaking from here?

Hello. I just finished my complete engine rebuild. did the lower end and the top end. All Wiseco performance parts. So finished the re-build and fired it up last night, to find a puddle of trranny fluid under the bike. The crack in the case was present before the re-build. but i didn't leak fluid from this area. Therefor, i did nothing to fix the crack/hole. I replaced all seals and what not, and am wondering if the issue is the seals inside the cases.

Should i be leaking tranny fluid from this hole??????

Basically, when looking at front sprocket, the crack/hole was created by the chain jumping off the front sprocket. so when you pull on the clutch lever, you can just see the bar on the inside rotate. i really need to get a pic up so ya"ll can see. how can i do that? post a pic. thanks guys

i'd clean that with some brake cleaner and patch it with some "quick steel"
being careful to not push any into the hole

If you were not leaking transmission fluid from that hole before, you were running your tranmission dangerously low on transmission fluid.

Do as Awk said, it'll patch that right up and you can keep rocking on.

you should patch that hole even if it isnt leaking from there.keep water and dirt out of ur transmission

well i know that i wasnt running the tranny low, i think there was so much sledge and gunk built up that it basically sealed itself. also, i thought i had a slow leak from a bad crank case gasket, but i bet it was a combo of both and i just didn't realize it was a slight leak from that hole. where can i get the steel repair materials???? auto body shop, or from my yamaha dealer? thanks, this is a big help, i gotta get back out there for this weekend!!!

Quick Steel and JB Weld are really high strength epoxys. Off the top of my head, you can probably find them at your local car parts store like an auto zone. I feel dumb because I see them all the time and walk by them all the time, but can never think of where and when.

hardware stores, auto stores, lowes, depot all will have "quick steel" or also called epoxy putty, < the new mellenium "jb weld", far superior to jb weld, imo

jb weld fixed a chip i had in my case. do a mock up like you would with fiberglass then sand down till you get the look you want.

the previous owner of my bike slung the chain and caused similar damage, if you take your time and do it right, you cant even tell.

and i second awks comment about brake clean, that ish works wonders. CRC is amazing
