Let me start of saying I just got this and the guy said the top end was just rebuilt bored 1mm over. He said he ran it and then the stator went. I cleaned the stator and it works but when I turn the lights on the motor cuts out. So im getting a new stator to fix the problem.

Well I got it running. (sorta) I got new power reeds b/c the stock ones were split and bent. It started and ran sh*tty like the timing was off ( wouldn't revv and all the tors stuff is un hooked). I took off the flywheel and saw that there is a keyway of some sort. I then looked at the shaft and saw a notch but it was smooth like the part for the key on the shaft broke? My question is does that (looks like a wooddruf key?) get replaced? Can it be replaced?

Also when it was running it smoked very bad. I just did the oil block off kit and I mixed gas with koltz a 40:1 mixture. It also has a new spark plug. I pulled the oil fill plug and it didn't revv so i don't think its an internal seal.
Im stumped and I really wanna ride this thing.

Sorry for the long post but I just need some answers.
Thanks

yes you can replace the woodruff key. that is why its running strange, its not in the right place on the crank shaft so its firing wrong. and the smoking just dont worry bought it at the moment, get a woodruff key in there and get it running fine then worry bought smoke, i have no idea what it could be, 2 strokes smoke alot when they start up... and make sure theres no air leaks around the intake because you did just change some stuff. spray carb cleaner all around the intake and if it revs up theres an air leak

honestly no idea. you going to have to order one from a yamy dealer OR find one on ebay. or theres something called a degree key, changes timing (correct me if im wrong...) you can find one on ebay most likely.

I have an extra factory woodruff key you can have. I sheared mine in half and had to order a new one but they were cheap so I got an extra and never used it. just send me your address in a private message and I'll mail it to you. you have to make sure you get the fly wheel on really tight or it will just do it again

Pm'd you thanks alot for that. Mine sheared in 2 I don't know why but Im glad somebody can help me out. Hopefully once I get that and my new stator this thing will run right. If it keeps smoking really bad Im gonna pull the top end and see whats up. Im picking up a compression tester tom to see what it is. Should be good supposidly it was just rebuilt.

I would say 40:1 is ok as long as you get good oil to mix it with. NOT that stuff in the little bottle at the gas station!!! Im going to be switching back to 40:1 on my next fill up. I really like the amsoil dominator and ive ran it as high as 50:1 no problem but i wouldnt suggest it. amsoil claims it is made to be mixed 50:1 in all two strokes but it seems a little risky and the gain is barely noticeable over 40:1

i use yamalube from my yamaha dealer i run 32:1 in myne and i try to use 93 gas when i can it makes it run so much better

Well I got it running good today but it smokes really bad. When it first started it smoked and then it died down but as soon as I went to ride it, bam a lot of white smoke and it won't stop. At one point the motor bogged and it was smoking bad. I also noticed that there is a little drip of oil from where the exhaust exits the head. (WTF?) I don't think thats supposed to be like that. Comp is good at 120+psi after 2-3 kicks so I dont think its rings. Maybe a gasket? Any help would be appreciated.:(

Thanks

Can post a vid if needed.

Oil will drip by the exhaust, usually out the ports and the exhaust itself. A lot of 2-strokes do that. Have you checked the main jet or even the air screw on the carburator? White smoke makes it sound like you are running a little rich. A video would help use diagnose your problem though...

Well I checked the main jet and its 240. Is that too big? Its all stock except for a uni filter. Plug is just about black.

As for the crank seal is that hard to replace? Do I need to split the cases?

vid is comming
