i could easily machine a piston at school and it would be free. and would it last as long as a forged piston i can get the mesurements really close too

the measurements need to be within .00x to be correct, same with with the ring grooves, the location of the pin, and the grooves for the circlips.

i'd just get a good forged piston personally. but i'd use that CNC to build some other stuff lol

I'd like to see ya try, not sure how it would work but if it doesn't cost you anything why not? I wish they had that stuff when i went to school!

i was just wondering if it would work. @slick im going to a really nice trade school now where i could make just about anything i can dream of for free as school work haha

your whole quad should be billet alluminum by the time you graduate. it would probably be easier to make some cool billet pieces and sell them for the money for a piston.

you can as long as you design it properly, which means specing out the stock piston, taking into account the expansion rates of the material you are using (pistons are actually not perfectly round, they are elliptical), and making sure it has all the right materials in the right places with proper tolerances.

I run a 5 axis Mikron CNC (10,000 rpm ) at work and got tons of experiance and i doubt i could pull it off. I might get it close but i surely would not trust it in my machine. There is alot of engineering that goes into that little piston. It would take forever just to write the program. Forged is the way to go.

really close just aint gonna cut it bro...it has to be perfect, if one side is heavier than the other by a half a gram....bye bye motor!, theres alot that goes into it, take a real good look at one a see if u think u can

damn the freekmobile has some new diggs! lookin good as always freek

thanx bro..just getting it ready for awks...killer batt ported motor...some new paint here and there....shaved up seat...it was a good dayI:I

sorry for getting off topic here....someone give me hell lol

freek! back on topic!!! lol

i would definitely start out with some simpler parts and make some billet pieces for the blaster

or if you wanna get technical, start with something like a throttle assembly

if i had the extra cash to rebuild it if it fragged o yeah lol.

nitrous+blaster=win lol

until it lets go hehehe

how free is it if it frags and takes out a bore, crank and cases?

Maybe I should clarify my answer a bit more... It can't hurt to try and MAKE one, but I would research, talk to builders, etc before I'd actually use it. Don't go and blow up you motor! Maybe it has never been done or advertized before because it would cost a rediculous amount to make and buy? But it wouldn't hurt to attempt to make one if it's not useable, would make a cool trophy topper!! I still say try it.
