That's interesting. I can see several uses/options for those. One would be all out motor (drag/tt/flat track) that would be inspected regularly for wear/damage. Two teardowns would almost pay for one. The other would be if you were ballz deep into engine building to adjust port/deck heights.
Installed with 3bond or such and you'd have a blow out proof jug gasket.
I wish there were head gaskets simular for same reasons. 1.5 or 2mm for strokers so the piston is at bottom of ports for maximum time/area values, then raise roof to proper timings.
