ok i need some help.
my computer has been having some problems.
it will just randomly shut off and sometimes the moniter feed will shut off.
i am thinking my PSU is going bad.
i am pretty sure i have a big enough unit. i know i have this model, but cant remember how much watts it has but i think it is 680watts.
CompUSA.com | ATX-IB680W-GN | Apevia Iceberg 680-Watt PSU

ok here is my set up
AMD Phenom X4 9650
have 3 hard drives, 500gb, 60gb, 180gb.
run a crappy cd drive
have the fans it comes with
run windows 7 on 4 gb of ram.

also doesn't anyone know if that PSU is good or not.
if not, what is a good one.

this isn't a gaming rig, just a decent PC. and everything is only like a year old.
i know when i did have some cheap 1gb video card in it, i fried two of them. the fan on the VC would just pop out.

the first card took like a month for it to fry and pop. they replaced it and i told them everything i had. so maybe not enough power? or maybe a short somewhere?

it is less than a year old and barely used. i always used my laptop. and that is a grand down the drain.

There are 3 things that could be causing this, more than likely its that PSU since its not exactly meant for the newer systems that use the 12v rail much more than the 5v rail (that PSU is geared for the 5v rail usage). Go on to Newegg.com and pick out a corsair psu in the 500-650 watt range, should be more than enough for your usage.

The other 2 things that it could be is the mother board or GPU drivers (that would only account for the monitor, nothing else). But as i said, its more than likely your PSU.

^ that should be perfect for your system

As for the video cards dieing, i think its time to pick a different card.

Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any more computer questions.

oh i trashed the second VC. i haven't been running one since.
but when i get home, i will get more info on my setup.
i am running ddr2 sh*t.
