Bought my boy a 05 blaster. Completely stock. Only issue is the clutch doesnt start engaging till the lever is almost completly out. Clutch doesnt slip but would like for it to start grabbing sooner. Is it just how they are or is there an ajustment to help the clutch start grabbing sooner?

first thing i would do is adjust the lever. It could also be that your clutch cable is worn.

cables are dirt cheap, replace it, IF after you put a new cable in and adjust it, it still grabs late, then you have to pull your actuator out and "clock" it, its possible the previous owner had it out for some reason and didnt put it back in the right spot

Ok ill pick up a new cable next time im at our local shop and see what happens. The guy i got it from was completely clueless on any repairs so doubtfull he messed with the clutch arm or anything internal... were slowly getting this this all fixed and cleaned up.

On a different subject... was thinking bout getting rid of air box and running a k&n with outerware directly on carb. Is this bad? Obviously i would have to rejet. Or just run a k&n in the air box? Kinda wanting to keep it as simple and clean as possible. My banshee just has the filters off the carbs so i imagine it would be ok on the blaster as well

Thanks for the input. We will be doing new pipe and silencer at the same time. Thinking on the fmf fatty wjth porercore 2 silencer but not dead set on it yet

Do you notice how your stock pipe goes to the left and back over to the right to your silencer (basicly expansion chamber on left side or left center). A right bend is on the right side.. I have a Fmf fatty right bend and im very happy with it. There is a good read on here somewhere about pipes and what rpm range there best at. Give it a read and it might help you decide on a pipe.
