clutch plates frying

ok my friend is buying a blaster next week hopefully, i was talking to the owner and he said the 2 clutches he has put in have frayd . heard of this but never dealt with this problem is it an easy fix or how to fix it would be great. he is getting a deal i think $400 for a 94 blaster with pro circut pipe vforce2 reeds new crank rods new piston freshly bored and new tires. one more person swithced from the 4pokers to 2strokers! he is getting rid of his ltz400 finnaly! so anybody know how to fix this? thanks

need more specifics, did he replace just the organic plates and did he beadblast the steel plates? Did he replace springs which may be weak? and check the basket and make sure the vertical edges of the grooves the plates slide into are free of notching which I have had cause a clutch to not engage fully all the time.

be sure the basket doesnt have grooves .be sure the cltuch is adjusted correctly.use a barnett clutch with all heavy duty springs installed .

and did he forget to put the spring that goes in between the fricton plate and the steel plates?

Chances are it wasn't properly adjusted and the little steel ball between the clutch push rods has welded itself to the push rod and did damage to the push rod assy also.

Along with the clutch basket having grooves and the plates can't move freely.

huh ok sounds great ill take a look at that basket and pull the rod out and check all of that next week when we go to look at it thanks guys!

i doubt you'll get to look at that sh*t unless you've already bought it. you'd have to drain the oil and pull the foot peg and the clutch cover.....
but even if the hub and plates need to be replaced, it's still a pretty solid deal for $400. in fact i might have a clutch hub from a donor engine laying around i could sell ya. pm me if you want and i'll see if i can find it.

idk but when i bought my 92 the guy pulled the cover off right then and there, and the head to look at the cylinder walls. ok ill have to take you up on that offer if it is bad.
