clutch not enganging

Hey Guys fairly new to working on these blasters and recently picked up a few. I am having a problem with the clutch not engaging. The pressure plate only moves less then a quarter inch. like its not getting pushed far enough out, ball bearing is there and seems to be fine. When i first got it the clutch worked it was a little stiff but worked fine. i rebuilt the top end put it back together and this is what is happening.
Any recommendations?

dots on pressure plate and basket aligned ? 1/4" is alot for movement, just needs to release pressure

Did you forget to install a plate back on the basket? 1/4" seems excessive gap at full disengagement.

I think you might have engaged and DISengaged confused.
Is it not moving
Or is it not stopping ?

The pressure plate moving that much is plenty, in fact it seems excessive .
If you did a top end, why did you have the clutch cover off ?
