Cleaning a Flywheel

Some steel wool ok to use on the inside of the flywheel? There is a few little rust spots and i would like to clean it up. Carb clean and wool wont hurt anything will it?

I like and prefer a media blaster.be careful though your magnets are glued in there and carb clean is a solvent.solvents eat glue.

Id go with something safer like simple green.neither cleaner mentioned will remove rust thats elbow grease and steel wools areas so why take the chance?

Im not saying it will happen but could.pretty neat sounds when one of those magnets let go.i gotta buddy with a 250R that had that happen at badlands needless to say he didnt ride that day and sat in the truck all day.

Don't use steel wool little pieces will stick to magnets . use a scotch brite pad and simple green or simular I:I
