changing crank bearing seals! need help!

Ok, i just rebuilt my 95' top end, well its running strong an good...i check the oil an its really really low, so go an get oil, drain the old, an put in the new, well i either put to much in or something, cause now its smoking like crazy....
so i think i blew my crank seal, one or both of them not sure....so now i got my clutchside case off, an i can see a rip like tear in the seal... but i havent checked the other one cause i was told i would need a flywheel puller...but what all do i have to do to get to the seal on the clutch side....please help.....thanks guys....

never done it but i dont think it could be that hard...jus pull it off right???and replace it with some sealent on it

the gear bolt right on the crank is really tight an when i try to get it everything turns...? an did u mean just put sealint on the used seal or what?

you gota take off the drive gear on the crank shaft and just pry the old seal out. there is a bushing over the crank shaft that goes between the shaft and seal, dont forget that.and just plug new one in, make sure you install it the right way, look atthe old one and the new one while its in there to determin whihc way it goes.

You can use a strap wrench to hold the flywheel or clutch holding fixture to remove the nuts from the pto and stator side nuts. You will need to purchase a flywheel puller to remove the flywheel, do not use a jaw puller as it will damage the flywheel. You can get a flywheel puller from the dealership or just about any online atv parts dealer, try www.rockymoutainatv.com[url] they s...lace any crankcase seals or cylinder gaskets.

how do u do a leak down test..?

You have to have a guage, expansion plug for the exhaust port and air fitting for the intake manifold. the crankase is then pressurized to 6psi and must maintain that for 6+ minutes. If it doesnt, you can use soapy water to track down where the leak is and repair it.

Best to do a second leakdown test after the repair has been made if it fails the first test.

osrry i havent been able to get to you on yahoo messenger. you can use an impact gun to remove the bolt if you cant get it off also.

what i did to get the drive gear off was put a soft aluminum washer between the gear and the clutch gear's teeth. that pinched the washer and held the drive gear so i could remove it.
