Chain rollers

One of my buddies runs his blaster without an upper chain roller. I was wondering because I finally got a new job and complete my rebuild of my blaster and only have a few odds and ends left, chain rollers being one of them. Does anybody else only run one roller or should I just get both for the good of the chain?

get both but the stock rollers for the blaster sucks. you can cut the roller mount off flush and drill a little bit bigger hole and use a yfz 450 roller, its a double bearing roller alot better than the stocker very easy to do all u need is a hacksaw and a drill and u can do it

the guy at the local cycle shop told me to try doing that but i wasnt sure about it. I guess I will roll in there early in the morning and hit up 2 of them chain rollers.
I am seriously only 60 bucks away from completing my 100$ blaster build!!!
(2 rollers, 1 tensioner, axle bearings)

Or you could order a set of rollers off of Freek and they will last 10X as long as the others!

Good luck with that, I have sent him 4 pm's over the past couple months, and got him to respond to one, and that was just pricing. You really should get both. I'm only running one atm and I need to get another one as well as the roller for the swing arm, but I don't want to take the swinger apart to change it.

actually it doesnt even have to be a yfz450 one i know at our yamaha shop they have some on the wall in some packages and u can get any of em just get the one with double rollers. that link that i sent u that chain roller seems to be a better material than the stock yfz one and it looks better too, they also have em in red and blue if i was you i would either get the ones from the link or get a set from freek

heres a pic of what it looks like on the bike, you can see the difference the one on the bottom is the one it has that black anodized cover to help keep the dirt out of the bearings

beware of the clear colored type, the roller itself is made of soft rubber and wears quickly, i have freeks on my sons bike, they seem to be holding up well,
but on mine i have double bearing, harder black rollers from east coast atv, and they seem fairly good too, even had one go bad, contacted ecatv about the failure, and they sent me 2 new ones, free
i did have to cut off the tubes to use the twin bearings, but no drilling involved, they just bolted in, then put a nylock nut, provided, from the outside to lock it in place

On mine I dont use the bottom roller. It looks like you could but with my extended swing arm it looks like you dont need to. Some guys run theirs like mine and I have heard of no problems, Others say "you gotta run all the rollers". Idk but mine runs fine without the bottom roller. Just throwing that out there.

I have a buddy who doesn't run any on his pos blaster. he put a 15 tooth front sprocket on the other day and I asked how much clearance he had between the chain and case and he said like 1/4 inch. so I got a 15 tooth and I have like 1/16 clearance. that is how much the metal bar where the rollers go has bashed the outside of his chain in.

My bottom one is shot and it makes the chain rub real bad on the skid....very annoying. Getting new ones asap!

im still a fan of freek and batts roller sets. yeah they dont have a fancy dual row of bearings to wear out but they do what they are supposed to and wear very slowly.

I'll tell ya i got one of those case savers, and have been running it since april, there is no wear on it at all, and I'm very pleased!
