cfm airbox

i just got one. they are designed well and offer more protection than running no lid. the mounting kinda sucks on it but they box itself is built very well. and its great for guys running aftermarket shocks because its bent out and around the shock

i run one and i f*cking hate it. i think they dropped the ball on it since it doesn't mount like the rest i've seen. hangs too low for my liking. don't get me wrong though it is excellent quality.

so what then? good quality means nothing if they dont fit properly imo

they're good quality. it's a well made box, but it just happens to be off. i hate this one, but i'd buy another one. i run one on my warrior and i love it.

It is awesome quality, use a UNI, not K&N.

Regardless, mounting sucks, the best way to mount this is go buy some sheet aluminium. Ditch CFM mounting system. Go study how PB aluminium airbox mounts over rails. Cut sheet and wrap over top frame rails drill holes in CFM so it is suspended by frame rails. There is no welding required just cutting and drilling, mount this way.

If you go to the ebay listing from CFM there is an make an offer option. They used to take 75 which is what i got mine for I tthink I heard 90 now. But anyway will save some money.

I love this box. few tips however, The boot they give you sucks if you have 26-30mm carb (hard to seal). You can get a better carb boot that will seal better here .......(thank AWK)

Intake Pipe Reducer

The way CFM wants you to mount it is ridiculous. Mine and my buddies both had holes drilled incorrectly to match up on 03-06 frames.

The PB box had way better mounting system and better carb boot, but they are smoking asking like 225. The CFM is so easily modded to mount the same way.

IMO, PB makes some nice stuff but extremely overpriced (why I don't do business with them). CFM FTW with custom mounts

/\/\/\/\ i couldnt have said that better myself /\/\/\/\

Or for about $45 you can make your own out of steel...

I bought a sheet of 24 guage sheet metal (24" x 24") - $20

AQ piece of exhaust pipe from the auto parts store - ~$8

A radiator hose with two matching clamps -$ ~10

I figure about $5 for screws or welding depending on which one you have handy...

kick ass. thanks pickled ill pm if i have any trouble with mounting.

my stock box was all rotten when i got the bike so i ditched it, running a ru1080 k&n right on the carb. which was no prob b4 but now that the rainy season has hit fl, it sucks. every puddle you hit means you get to stop, drain the bowl and pray no water got in the engine.

^^i had the distinct pleasure of pushing my bike like a freakin mile back to the truck. not fun

I should be posting pics within the next week or so in my build of how I did mine, but it is not hard, and yea ditch the K&N, water is a prob but even worse they let small particles of dust/sand etc. that will eat your rings.

Keep the K&N on your car....lol, foam for ATV/MX FTW

anyone use one? thoughts?

Nope never heard of them! BWAAAHAAA search ya noob!

I love mine, and i too had to redesign the bolting process.

I should of just made one out of steel like i was going to and saved the money but what the hell, too late!
