CFM Airbox nightmare!

my dads didn't come with a yamaha boot, it just came with a boot that lookd like it was made out of radiator hose that was cut and glued together to adapt it to my carb and airbox. i think this is what he has. if that is the case i don't think they sent him the insert to run a 28mm carb. Also it sounds like it is not even in the frame right. He should send us pics of the box and it in the frame so we know how to help.

i don't think they were ment to run with stock carbs... most people get an aftermarket like 34mm carb before they upgrade the box. most 34mm carbs are longer than the tiny stock blaster carb.

I'm back. First of you guys are great and very helpfull. This is a great forum and I plan on doing that payed contributer thing within a week.

Now on to the problem. By radiator hose I mean the blue rubber orange on the inside hose they give you. My hose (around 2 inches long) had one side that had a smaller piece wrapped around on the inside or the hose. Even with this insert there is still way to much room on the carb side. Also if you mount it the way its suppose to be mounted.... the side with the stub wedge inbetween the top bar and the one running up to the top bar and the other using the screw to go threw the factory bracket where the oil tank system. There is alittle over two inches gap between the metal tube and the carb.

I already went to the auto parts store and found the perfect radiator hose to use. I stopped my self from doing the job because I decided to wait till friday night since I want to do a diy called "A better way of installing a cfm box on a stock carb". I also wanted to take pictures before I modify anything so everyone can see what I was dealing with. I'll then take pictures of the way I'm going to do it which I feel will be much better.

BTW---> I did tell him what it was going on and that it was the factory carb. There where three hose choices I picked the smallest. The only thing I can think off is they gave me the wrong hose. tommorrow night I'll take pictures of everything so you guys can tell me if it was a wrong part. Also the company has no phone number to call just email. I will be waiting on contacting him and leaving feedback on ebay intill I give you guys more info and we can decide what the story was with this thing.

Thanks Hatchhonda19 for the offer, I don't think I will need it but its good to know.

Saturday sounds good. I got my tires, spockets and chain in and installed today. So I just have to get this air box good to go. It'll be nice to finally ride this thing. Thanks for the transportation.... i'll need someone to pick me up.=)) You can ask Frank for my cell number if you need to call me.

and thats why you go with project blasters sexy box.

Project blaster should make some without the Hologram finish. It bring's the price up I'm sure since its longer to make them. I would offer some without the finish take off 30 bucks and I think they would corner the market better. Then again I dont know what there cost is and profit. Maybe they can't. I would have bought theres but it was 200 plus shipping and I thought the cfm one was basically the same thing just without the added flash and I would save some cash.

ya i dont get it.a boot like that i dont think would be to hard to find at lowes or home depot. hope it all works out for you. can you get a picture od the adaptor they sent you?

I found one already, radiator hose from pepboys auto storeI:I. I plan on taking pictures of everything tommorrow to put up here to get all the facts from you guys as to what caused my problems before I email him or leave feedback on ebay.

Well I just bought one of these the other day.. I am anxiously waiting for your pics, hoping that mine wont be the nightmare that yours has.

The box mounts up with no problems. If you are running a stock carb then you need the correct adapter. The blue hose on the end of the pipe is for 32-34mm carb.I run this box and like it alot.I had to make my own mounts cause I have a gussett kit and it wasn't muchto do.If you have not got it working let me know.I bought a stock boot along with the 32-34mm boot just to have.I can shoot a pic for you.

I didnt see your offer, thanks I'm still figuring out what I'm going to do.

i think one of you fabericator dudes on here should start making them. Say 75.00 plus shipping! Sounds good to me. Some one step up to the plate a fab one up.

Yeah, really guys. If anyone has any kind of welding skills it shouldn't be that difficult... Not to offend any one of you guys, but you should seriously think about doing it. And you should make it to the same dimensions of lets say; a 400ex box, that way we can put a k+n box lid. Just stating my opinion and goodluck to anyone that wishes to take on the task! :D

The Project Blaster box is nice.
I personally like the CFM box over it because 1 it's cheaper and 2 it has a cleaner look goin on.

yeah the cfm is cheaper and i think it is just as good as the pb, without the flash, but you really don't need flash when you are going to cover it in mud like i do....
