is this a good replacement for the stock box without a lid or would it be the same with the cfms lid on and how well does it keep out water

CFMs are great. they're much better than the stock one and are well worth the money.
as for keeping out water, they're fine unless your always riding in wet places.

ohhh i go ridin thro a couple feet of water every week but does it keep out water better than stock
you will be fine.I run 3 of them with no problems.A nice airbox and go to your local automotive chain store and buy a k&n filter through them.It's like $35-39 bucks instead of the $60 cfm charges.On a side note find their ebay auctions,all have a buy it now price.Find the ones that say best offer,then offer $75 for it plus the $15 ship so $90 to your door.They will accept the offer and invoice you.See now I saved you some money.lol
It's a matter of choice, buddy some guy swear by the uni and some by the KN. I perefer Uni myself it may not leat as much air through but it keeps out alot more dirt than K&N In my opinion.
there was a thread a while back about some guy who had to rebuild his engine after every race because he was using a k&n and it was letting dirt get in to the engine. he found this out because there was dirt in the back or his carb. he switched to uni and his problem went away.

Phragle said there was like .2 or less air flow diff between uni and K&N, if I remember right. Which if you can fill that differance on a butt dyno you'd put dyno's to shame. Just remember any dirt sucked in goes through the crank first!!! on these 2 strokes.
