cases split need help

okay so i have a 91 balster that has gone through some hard times
recently while riding the trottle stuck panicing i downshifted olny to find my clutch did not full engage. needless to say now its pretty messed up so i split the cases here my counterbalencer bearings blew out and all over the inside of the case. my question is everything else is fine by visual insection and i know i gotta replace that gear and the bearings what now???????

i would check to see if the gears mesh and you can shift all the way through while tha cases are split, and if it does you should be fine, and you dont "have" to use your clutc to shift its just alot better and like you said replace the gear and bearing i think you should be good
 
take the clutch cover off find the shift arm and shift star....make sure it grabs every pin as the shift star moves around as you shift thru the gears...if it doesnt fully grab a gear and looks like it wont reach..then you have a problem. that is 1 way....if you have a problem in thy trans or some where....it will show. im having an issue with my shee right now, thats how i discovered my problem.....
 
might be internal..in the trans.....maybe broke a tooth off a gear or something...have to look at the transmission parts....could be a ton of things.....but thats where im at now..mine internal....same issue...except mine just stopped working...i didnt panic and downshift...i had shifting issues from the get go, and clutch issues....
 
yea see the thing is i was in about 4th gear pinned ready to shift up

it was bad i almost rode into a lake
 
Are you rotating the out put shaft when you are trying to shift all gears?

I was just getting ready to say that. Jack up the rear wheels and rock the rear tires while you work the shifter or it will not grab all the gears.

Rockstar, If you have never messed with the transmission on your Shee before, Don't sweat, The way the Banshee cases split makes transmission work almost fun. You don't even have to remove the topend but I'll bet you already knew that.
 
yeah, its a collaboration between 370 and i. he told me about flipping it upside down and taking the bottom case off...its kind of alright cuz im getting my new shift drum put in when its ready...have yet to tear into it...started a 3-11 job for a few days, plus teh holiday...also found more issues with my quad that i had to fix.....we'll get it all buttoned up and running/roosting again.....
 
also, to get back on topic.....he said teh cases were already split....????? and no gear damage........did i read that right? i caught it after i posted.....
 
yes thats correct the only thing wrong was the balecer gear was missing like 5 teeth and the bearings blew out and where allover thinside of the case
 
assuming that you lost 5 gears and some bearings in there i would suggest a full rebuild as even the tiny part off one of those teeth or even as bad as a full tooth or bearing, can help sieze your motor really quick. and then its a bigger more expensive boat your floating in.

my bike has taken off on my once but that was cause because my throttle cable got pulled tight when the top of my carb rattled up and tried to come out. i wasn't as unlucky as you were and i didn't have any lakes to worry about, just barb wire fences to avoid.
