The seals on my carrier are completely shot. Is it going to hurt anything riding without changing the seals and bearings? I'm going up to mountain ridge atv the 25th and taking the blaster I think. If i get bearings, how do you install them?

start spraying some pb blaster in there now to loosen things up. its not a hard job just time consuming and you need patience! ill try to find a link for ya

It would have been funnier like this:

Let me google that for you

PB blaster is a penetrating lubricant... It's orange colored and kinda fruity smelling. It wicks down into rust spots and eats the rust out. It's REALLY good for the "sleeve to axle" interference fit that forms over time from the rust...

Be aware that the sprocket hub may be a SOB to get off X(. I've seen guys have to cut them off, beat them to death, or in my case give up and buy another carrier and axle. And all I wanted to do was put a grease zerk in. Should have just put it in and said heck with the metal shavings :D.
I used PB, heat, beat, made a puller that put enough pressure that the peice on end of axle deformed 1/4in. :o
In retrospect I would back the nuts off a little and ride it till it loosened up.

well you might get lucky and not have any problems, but, if it does seize up, you can ruin your chain, sprocket, sprocket hub, axle splines. if you have the time to change em i would recomend it.

knowing you have bad carrier bearings and riding on it anyways is like knowing a girl has herpes and still sleeping with her anyways, it never ends good!
