Since we were dead slow at work today i made the press-in bushings for my lower engine mounts.

And heres a pic of the engine mount after being painted the same color as the frame

Update:

After finally getting my order of OEM parts in, I have discovered another failure in the trans.

blasgterworkgearn.jpg

This is 2nd gear on the output shaft. Obviously something went majorly wrong and the gear or thrust washer went off center on the shaft itself, the thrust washer wore a new groove into the gear, and the thrust face of the gear where the dogs engage is torn up as well(not shown as well in the pic).

I completely rebuilt the other trans shaft successfully and there was no damage on that side other than broken shims(probably cause by this gear having too much play).

I am ordering a new OEM gear direct from yamaha because i don't want to take any chances with another used gear.

Also installed every new bearing in the cases.

this is a sweet build deffinately gonna be following up on this. good job man keep up the good and hard work :)

probably going to be sidelining this project until after christmas time, since i need to spend money on gifts and such lol. don't think the gf would appreciate just getting a card lol.

trying to finish off my bills too so i will have more money to dedicate to this to get it rolling. i'll continue to post updates if i get anything done, but until I can send the crank/jug/head to Ken O'Connor I really cannot make anymore progress since the cases are split.

Sorry it took abit, got over to the garage today and got some piks..

the isolators are urethane, you can see the cut off mounts for the lower/bottom motor mounts. They had the urethane bushings too. on the front mounts, I made some alum. spacers between the mounts on the frame and the engine. I would also recommend you make some kind of head stay, thats a lot of cylinder and fin vibrating around..

thanks for the pic phragle. i was thinking about a head mount but after reading on the IT/YZ forums a lot of guys have recommended against using the head mount because they say it can cause the base of the jug to crack because its held in place and the motor vibrates so much.

spoke with Surf and Turf Racing about balancing my rotating assembly today, Ken recommended them to me. Very knowledgeable people and helpful as well, the balancing is kinda pricey but from what I've read and saw on their site, they do top notch work, which is what I am looking for here.

Also, ordered a LA Sleeve for my jug, the OEM sleeve looks a little iffy and I do not want to take any chances, also this way I will be back at OEM bore instead of on my 3rd(of 4) overbores. LA Sleeve doesn't make the 490 sleeves anymore according to their site, but I found a seller that has some in stock so thats awesome! Gonna order up a new Wiseco piston as well, now i'll have an overbore piston already when I need a rebuild(my 88mm) I:I .

The other day got TM Designworks upper and lower chain rollers, Primary Drive 44-Tooth Steel Rear Sprocket, All Balls Swingarm Bearings, and D.I.D. 520 104-link Gold Series X-Ring Chain :)

Hopefully in about a month I can order the new OEM Connecting Rod and then send my stuff to Surf and Turf while i send my Jug/Head/Sleeve to Ken!

I know on my IT banshee countershaft sprockets fit, i think I remember running a pretty big one too. remember to find someone familiar with the old yz's and have the head done!!!!! that is a must, it has to be reshaped a they ping like hell.

already touched base with Ken about the head, and he said he knows about the fix and can do it for me no problem!

I dont run the head stay on my blasty either. No issues in almost 4 years. Def red loctite all the other motor mounts though lol
