hey guys rembember how i told you that the oil leak was coming from the head gasket..well its coming from the gasket below the head gasket if that makes any sense...im pretty sure its the cylinder gasket...am i screwed?

i would still replace the head gasket to while your at it. just pull the head bolts off disconect the carb and upbolt the 4 bolts that hold the jug on and carefully remove cyl.remove old gasket, clean and install a new one. i with 4cfed you might as well replace the rings while your in their. i hope we were able to help.

the title says carb rebuilding ..i dont get it ?whats that have to do with a leaky head gasket ?

iam with you flotek....anyways look the topend over, you might need a bore or hone now, if it not scratched or scathed at all just replace the rings. and buy a gasket kit and redo all the gaskets.

the title is that because it was the titlte of my last thread lol......im not gonna have to take out the engine to do this? i was thinking just remove the gas tank

yeah, but the proper way is to take off it out of the frame but you can do it from the top, you should be able to tell if there are issues. just have a high powered flash light handy!

don't replace the piston rings!!!! unless you plan on honing your cylinder. or at least rehashing it. if you just drop new rings in, they'll never break in properly and you'll prob have sh*ttier compression than you do now.
not only that, but if you do hone the cylinder, you're increasing the gap between cylinder and piston which increases piston flap and you're just asking to have your skirt chewed up (believe me i learned the hard way).
don't replace the rings unless you need to (compression check it) and when you do, don't just throw new rings in there, you want to bore and hone and replace the piston w/ an overbore.
