Carb rebuild question

i ordered a moose rebuild kit for my 98 blaster, i tore my carb apart last night and the needle for the float is different then the one that came with the rebuild kit,,,, the one in the kit is like a cylinder and the one in the mikuni carb is like a bullet with a big rubber tip, i called DK inc. and asked them about it and they told me to call a tech tomorrow and ask them because both their kits come with the same items, but i found a moose kit on ebay that had the correct part in it. was just looking for some info on why the parts would be different,,, and also when i removed the main jet the only numbers stamped on the jet was a 400. that cant be the size of the jet, is it? thanks for the help

got any pics? and a 400 main jet is way wrong, cant even begin to guess on that... a stock blaster with a stock 26mm mikuni came with 220 or 230 main jet depending on your location. when i had my stock carb with a few mods i was only runnin a 310.. have you tried the new needle float? mabey it works eh same just is a modern style or design?

and a 230 main jet came with the rebuild kit, so i'm guessing that is a 400 jet in it now, i've only had this since September of last year, they said they put an FMF2 pipe on and re-jetted it. any way hope this helps
 
k,, i went to the Yamaha dealer and they said that the different style of seat and needle is actually the seat on the needle,,,, guess thats my bad but i didn't want to open the pack in case things where wrong.... and they also confirmed that the jet was a 400, so i called fmf and they said with the fatty and a turbine2 to use a 290 or 300..... all they had was a 290 so i'm going with that and a new 35 pilot,,, not sure why it had a 400 in it but hope things will be ok going to 290, thanks for all the help
