I have a 1995 blaster 200. I just got it to restore it. The previous owner seemed to have done some "work" on it. It has a fatty gold series exaust. I havent had a chance to break into it to see what all else, but I did notice that the carb has about 3 or 4 hoses coming out of it that go to nothing. I assumed 1 or 2 where air lines but one of them has a nail stuck in it blocking it off. Does anyone have a clue what these hoses are and y they go nowhere?

yea there vents, the one with the nail in its prolly cause he blocked off the oil injection and you need to block off the old oil line that went into the carb.

So the one with the nail in I probably need to block it off better so the nail doesnt come out right?

That's right. If you pull that particualr hose off of the carb., you'll see that there is a barbed fitting where the hose attaches. This barbed fitting is where the oil line coming from the oil pump used to attach to the carb., while the oil injection was still functional. Chances are that a previous owner ripped the oil injection system out, but simply cut/plugged the feed line with a nail. Cheap, but it kinda worked. Haha.

If you buy a true oil injection blockoff kit later on (I recommend doing so if the engine winds up being in running condition), it will come with a small neoprene cap that fits over and seals this barbed fitting. You can make something similar for a only few cents. As long as the hole in the side of the carb. is sealed, you're good to go. I've also seen some people drill, tap, and plug this hole. Whatever works. I:I

BTW, the other three hoses that you see hanging off the carburetor do, indeed, lead nowhere. The two hanging off either side of the carb. are your bowl vent lines. The long line coming off the very bottom of the fuel bowl is the spill-away for your bowl drain. I'd post pics of how this is all set-up, but, wouldn't you know it, I'm actually waiting on some new vent lines to come in for MY carb... :(

Thanks for your help man Ive fooled with cars for years but these little engines are a whole new world to me. Ive got a clymer manual coming next week it should help a lot but u know these mods aint gonna be in there lol.

Lol. You're not the first one to say that, I promise! :D I have the opposite problem. I tear into small engines all day long (and occaisonally in my dreams), but can't do much more than tune-up a car or truck. That Clymer manual will help a lot. Mods aren't included, but you will see how everything works and may gain a better understanding of why something got changed from its stock configuration after a good reading.
