how far open should the throttle valve be?

so there shud be no space from the valve to the bottom of the carb throat?

o u mean space when its closed.. there is usually a small space there. when u hold the throttle and then let it go u will hear the carb click when its closed all the way. you need some space for air to get through so it will idle.

right now there is a quarter inch space does tht sound right?

sound like too much. is your idle really high? try to release throttle to see if it clicks

yea really high and wont go down...i just rebuilt the carb tho

Did you put the slide back in the rite way?It will fit in backwards but won't close all the way.

sounds like your slide might be backwards

if by throttle valve u mean slide i can almost be certaon that it isnt sitting right with the notch in there, there is a slot that runs the whole length of the slide that the notch has to be in

im gunna say tht i put it in backwards i will take it apart and fix it thanks guys

When you put the slide back in,turn it till you feel it drop down.

as whitty said look for the notch on the slide and line it up with the nub inside the carb and it will slide down no prob
