As many of you know, I got a blaster that had a sat for a long long time. Cleaned the carb and tank and got it running. It still is not running at 100%, it is rather boggy at different parts of the throttle band and first gear has no punch at all, second is decent and the rest of the gears for the high speed really does nothing unless I feather the throttle at points and then it takes off. I cleaned the carb again and still the same but it idles fine. I started messing with the pilot air screw, I had it set at the 1 1/2 turns out and now have it at 2 1/2 and it seems to run better but not great but is smoking more. Any ideas?? How much should I turn it out?? :-/

if you need to turn your screw that far out you need a bigger pilot. did you completely disassemble the carb and spray it? and also, did yo uclean teh petcock and put a new plug in?

yea i cleaned the pet weiner, tank and all, pulled the whole carb apart. there was some more grime but not much, maybe I need to do it again. As for the plug, I need some clarification. In the manual I downloaded, the specs say B8ES, then in the middle of the book it says D8ES which im assuming is a type-o. I read on here to use B8ES or BR8ES.......do I want the resistor plug or not?? I have some Champion plug that is in there now when I got it, it looks too short on the threads as a ngk plug is longer. I am very confused.........

UNLESS you have a radio on your blasty, hahaha. bp8es will work as well.

And even then it shouldn't matter, lol. The spark plug boot on a stock Blaster has a resistor in it. Go with the non-resistor plug.

As far as the bog goes, like Noober said, it seems like you need more pilot for the low end. Before putting in a new one though, make sure the one you have is clean. I know you've already cleaned the carb, but sometimes people don't notice the pilot or only spray it instead of removing it, it has such a small hole it is very easy to plug. Remove it (in hole next to main jet) and spray it well. You should be able to see a little light through it. Then spray the passage it goes in, carb cleaner should come out a hole in the carb throat. When you see where it comes out, spray back through it from the throat side. Again, small hole, doesn't take much to plug it. You want this passage very clean.

Here is the plug that was in the blaster when I got it, Champion RJ19LM wich I cross referenced to NGK BR2-LM........im very confused by this LOL, its has black paint overspray as well like it was the stock plug. I think this is why its not running right, who the hell would put that plug in it??? Must have been a MORON!!!

dude, thats a damn lawnmower or chainsaw plug, and very possible thats your whole problem, b8es !!!!!!!!!!!!

lol i know, is that not the most moronic thing you ever seen.......I should start a thread on odd things found on blasters that were bought used LOL

its way shorter than the B8ES, its not even a compatible match to the B8 plug, I have no idea what possesed the guy to put that in the blaster!!! I got the correct plug in and it fired up just fine, didnt get to try it though as a cop was sitting down the street. Maybe ill take it for a spin.

for sure, the electode was still in the threaded hole on the head. Im surprised it ran like that!
