Well I know most of you hate the punk kids that ride around with there loud sub woofers etc... Well usually I do to buy I am considering getting a set up myself. I won't listen to much rap I will listen to all Rick mostly.

Almost all my door speakers are trash, so I would like to get a new head unit, some door speakers, and maybe a 12 inch sun behind the back seat. Bad thing is I have no idea of what brand of door speakers or sub and size or brand of amp.

What would you guys recommend? Or is there any special thing you would recommend while wiring it up?

One tip I would give is to make sure that the power amp you are going to drive the sub with is twice the handling power of the speaker. Eg: 1000 watt amp for a 500 watt speaker.

This will stop the speaker from being smoked by DC produced by over driving.

Pioneer Highs are a great sounding and very cheap can't beat them for the price and sound and then you have to figure out what size your speakers are all the way around. As for bass wise anything can be tuned for any music but if you want space and only listen to some rap and you don't want a whole lotta bass go with a set of 10's in a nice sealed box and make sure you get a amp that will match your rms of the subs you buy if possible go with dvc subs (dual voice coil) cause you can run them at different ohms you will probably wanna go with a 2-4 ohm stable amplifier cause you are not going for competition sound or anything to rattle you or other peoples brain I have a few nice things laying around if you are interested I have 3 jl audio 10's,some polk 12's,a sundown 12,cvr 12 and a few other things also have a few amplifiers laying around aswell as for stereo wise alpine is a nice radio sounds very clear and make sure you get one with a mp3/ipod hookup in the front and a usb input aswell go to bestbuy 119 will get you a very nice alpine head unit will have sub control and all.

Depends on the amp some amps are overated some are not a 1000 watt sony will get blown away by a 500 watt rockford.

I know what you mean.

I am talking Amps that deliver what they say, not them PIPO amps that pretend to put out power, but all they is put power into heatsinks.

1000 watt RMS amp matched with a speaker of 500 watts RMS handling.

To with. 1500w mtx sub, and a pioneer or Boss amp that's 1400. U can
Let likely run the sub at 2ohm instead of 4 and get 1500 watts. Unless u run at 4 which will give u like 700w on a mono amp. Or get a kicker comp 12> 300w

It is the speaker configuration that designates the ohmage.

To change speaker impedance one has to do it by connecting speakers in different and varying ways.

2 x 8 ohm speakers in parallel = 4 ohms
2 x 8 ohm speakers in series = 16 ohms
2 x 4 ohm speakers in parallel = 2 ohms
2 x 4 ohm speakers in series = 8 ohms

In all cases the speakers should have the same handling capacity.

It is possible to arrive at the desired impedance by connecting speakers of different loads, but it is not advisable.

I was running a Sony xplod 1200 amp and matching 10 sub. I wasn't going for scare the old white people base. Just wanted something to fill in the music.

Not too many here who don't like loud music!! I am and old guy but like it loud and proud but be respectful around midnight, is my motto! Whether its slipnot cranked or snoop dogg, ! don't care, drop it like its hot!

Pioneer is going to be the best for a budget. MTX and Rockford make both great amps, subs, and mid (sold at best buy and hh gregg). If you really wana go HAM then get sundown audio amps with DC audio subs (sold on the interweb). Pioneer makes great head units but Alpine is the best. Dont go cheap on the box for the sub. The box is the most important part of a good system. I would build your own if you have access to a table saw.

Ya, I have all kinds of wood working tools. I am enrolled in advanced woods In School.

I just want one 12 what size amp would you reccinend and I'll try and find a good used one.

Any decent brand should work fine for what you're looking for unless you are extremely picky about having high end audio. The most common brands will be a huge improvement over stock, a big plus would be finding a head unit which allows you to adjust the center frequency and range of each speaker. I have a Kenwood head unit which allows this, and it really helps to fine tune your system overall and get better sound quality out of it.

If your just looking for better quality audio with added depth, a single 12 inch sub and pretty much any replacement speakers such as Kenwood, Pioneer, etc should work fine. You will want pick out your sub, then make sure you get an amp which has an rms rating close to that of the sub, or a little over.

I have a pair of Sony Xplod 12 subs and they work great for what I want them to do, provide more balanced music and add some depth. A lot of people will bash Sony but I've never had a problem with mine, started out powering them at 170w a piece and even then with the bass cranked it is overpowering. I've got them each powered at around 350w rms now, and don't run them anywhere near what that setup can put out.

Kennwood headunits suck they arent even loud

Not all head units are the same, cheap models from any company are gonna have low wattage outputs when compared to higher dollar models. When it comes down to it, head units don't put out much wattage either way, and the speakers will be paired with an amp to increase the output. Hence the reason that many head units offer the ability to shut off the internal amplifier.
