Well I went to change my oil today and the previous owner either overtightened the bolt to drain the oil or it just hasn't been taken off in ages. I tried taking it off with all my might, but its on there good. It was also beginning to strip before I touched it, so I'm afraid to strip it even more, so I left it alone.

I also wanted to take the wheels off and I can't get the bolts off either, way too tough.

The same for the cluch screws, those are in there as well. I really don't know what to do. I was thinking of bring it over to my cousins to use his impact gun for the wheels... but Idk what to do for the clutch and oil bolt.

I did spray the screws/bolts with Liquid Wrench....:-/

Would Home Depot or a hardware store carry the oil bolt and clutch case screws, or do I have to buy them through Yamaha? Thanks!

Bolts are all a common size, any hardware store with a good selection of hardware will have them (Though H.D. may not). If you can find the allen or torx, get them. You'll thank yourself the next time you have to take it apart. If not, philips are not the worst thing. When I redid my motor I was lucky to find torx head at my local bike shop. You may have to get your drain plug from yamaha or any bike shop though..

As for getting them out- I would repeat the liquid wrench often for a day or so. My swing arm bolt was froze in solid, two days of WD-40 every time I walked passed it and it finally came loose. Problem being with your drain plug it's upside down....

An impact should take the wheel nuts right off. I have an adapter set for my impact that gives me philips screw drivers, but they make impact screw drivers you hit with a hammer for the clutch screws. I'd be extra careful on the drain plug, I'd use a well-fitting six-point socket on a breaker, that shouldn't round it on you unless its like welded in.

Let us know how it goes.

That's really strange, that none would loosen. Are you sure you are turning them the right way? Do you see the signs of red or green Loctite? If you have to get new bolts, there are bolt kits that you can buy, I've seen them on eBay KOR has some sets as well as Vito's.

If they have been put in with Loctite they will be Bar Stewards to get out.

Loctite lubricates the threads on assembly and allows overtightening.

Loctite dooes not respond well to penetrating fluid.

My drain plug is in so tight it has never been removed, I loosen the case screws and the oil will fall out. Luckily I have never had a leak or have had to replace a gasket, but I am sure my luck will soon run out.

I recommend this ONLY FOR THE MOST DIRE OF SITUATIONS! Any other method that leaves the bolt intact is preferred before this:

9-pc Metric Bolt Extractor Set - Tools - IRWIN TOOLS

The work similar to a "easy-out" (What a misnomer..... there's nothing easy about an easy-out!) but on the head of the bolt.

The original case bolts are all M6 x 1.0 and you WILL need an impact screwdriver to get them out:

Impact Screwdriver Set with Case

As others have suggested already, replace those JIS (they're not phillips head btw!) head screws with the hex head case bolts when you put it back together!

I buy this kit:

Yamaha Blaster YFS200 Stainless Engine Bolt Set Polished | eBay

$22 shipped and includes everything except the three bolts under the stator cover (you can reuse those if they survive or source those three yourself if need be)

The drain bolt IS NOT a "standard" thread pitch. It's a M12 x 1.50 whihc is neither the "fine thread 1.25" or "course thread 1.75". You cannot find that thread pitch just anywhere, unfortunately.... I actually ordered a bag of them from a local hardware store one time just for that application!

Common practice is to overtighten that, even with the copper crush washer! I used the extractors with great success.

I wasn't able to find the allen heads at my depot or lowes. When Ken did my work I just had him replace all the stock ones with allens, I feel that is a neccessity for at least the covers to have allen or hex head bolts. Then when ya have to split the cases replace those eight.

Impact for the wheels will work great for removal! I blue locktight my wheel lugs, axle hub castle nuts. I have had them work loose when on very rough trails! I use a torque wrench when putting them on! And of course check before each ride!

I have those extractors, If ya rather spend your $$ on new bolts, I'll mail ya the correct one to remove those stock PITA clutch cover, mail it BACK!

The extractor sets work well. You can also usually get awat with using a 12 point socket and banging it onto the old drain plug head. I would pick up an impact screwdriver for the clutch cover (butter bolts). Then as stated above get some nice stainless allen head bolts. Ace hardware uaually has all these bolts in stock. Good luck and let us know what worked for you.

My local Ace hardware has twice the metric bolt selection that Lowe's and Home Depot have unfortunately.

Even the selection of stainless hex head bolts at my local Ace Hardware is limited however. I wasn't able to get enough of the hex head bolts to make a dent in needing to put one case together :( I think they had maybe 3 in the little box?

I've never had lugnuts work loose (I put mine on with an impact gun as well) but I still check them regularly. I don't use loctite but to each his own.
