callin the haters!!!

3.8s were know for the gasket between the upper and lower... this one seeps a little, i already priced it out, new intake with gaskets is like 150 before my discount and one of our commercial accounts will do it for 165

and i also watch sponge bob lol

Yeah thats the one. Heads have to disassembled to replace them on the 3.1 so its more labor intensive. I wasnt about to get into all that work. lol

i wanna know who told you that!!!!!!!!

i can do intakes on a 3.1 in around 4 hours. i don't even pull the valvecovers or coil packs.

yes i bought a 15 dollar tool that lets me cheap and it was worth every damn penny

That ignition harness and cat converter are the only other problems I have ever had. I got mine with 80k on it and now its at 151k.

there was actually a service campaign or bulletin on the cat's

and fed, see if yours has had the "thermal event" recall done on it.

They did the upper and lower at the same time just to be sure.

I had a 94 olds achieva that was a 3.1... had 215k when I got rid of it and it still f*$kin flew...

you have to pull the upper on a 3.1 to get to the lower yes

but pulling the intake in NO WAY entails pulling the heads off. otherwise you would be putting head gaskets in it.

i've been there and done that on the 3.1's. i've done several sets of these, and a couple on 3.8's

Didnt mean they had to come off. Just the rockers and push rods according to my manual (Haynes).

they do, the 3.1 is a net lash system, no adjustment, you just tighten the rockers down and you're done!

its really not bad, just gotta put the pushrods back in the right spots.

i've been doing work like this since i was old enough to hold a wrench though so what i think is easy or no biggy may not be so simple to other people lol

good job trading that ford for a gm. i dont own a gm so i cant really talk. but i am up to 9 vehicles. i have a long way to go
