Sup guys, so I have the blaster sold I'm waiting for pick up on friday of the blaster...

I'm now in the market for a new toy!!I:I I'm stuck... What to get!!?!?

Options:
First Option and most favored option
1.LTR-450
2.YFZ-450
3.Raptor 700

Thing is My brother and 2 other cousins have Raptor 660's and I dont want to get the same thing lol.

What quad would you pick and why? And have you heard any pros or cons of the bikes?

Thanks guys!

Go with a YFZ450r/x. With minimal mods you will be spanking those rappy's that your friends have. If I had video proof, I'd post up videos of my dad's 2010 YFZ 450x beating a built Raptor 700. The yfz only has an exhaust and a custom tune + running VP race fuel. The motor is all stock.

I am on the exact same boat kinda, just researching since i havent sold my bike yet.

I am stuck between a raptor yfz450r and maybe a smaller z400.

I am leaning towards the yfz450 only becuase in 09 they introduced the yfz450r, it has fuel injectioin aluminum frame etc. i also think they came out with a newer model aluminum frame 700??

The yfzr is more of a open trail mx model bike which sucks cause its kinda wide i think 48inches or so, but in2010 they introduced the a yfz450x which is the trails gncc style model, it has the exact same everything except a narrower suspension. The yfz r and x have a few less horsepower than the previous carbed models but have a way smoother and more responsive power. Also the pre 07 models have a oil problem and dont provide oil to the lower rod bearing i think.

Im leaning towards the yfz for suspension, motor and looks.

Actually, the 450r and 450x are the exact same bike, just the 450x is 5lbs. lighter. And only two years bikes had the oil problem. I can't remember if it's 04-05 or 05-06.

I would not go with the raptor 700. I don't have any personal experience but I have heard that they are not very reliable. I would stick with the 450's.

I've heard the oil problem is in the pump from 04-05 And I've been doing tons of searching and lately the past few months I have absoluetly fell in LOVE with the Ltr it just looks so sexy and sleek and its a mx built bike out of the factory. 49 inches wide!! OH YEAHH!

Which 450 would you go with?

And the YFZX is the trail model its narrower and the YFZR Hence the "R" for "Racing" lol its a few inches wider.

the yfz450r is actually nearly 49 inches wide while the 450x is 46 inches wide... if you want trails then get a 450x... the 450r is made and tuned for the track... the 450x has different tuning in the efi to make it better for trails. the ltr is nice but is a little wide for the trails (same reasoning i said steer away from the yfz450r, too wide)... you could manage but it would be hard.

YFZ 450's are fun as hell if you like the 4-stroke engine's power characteristics. I have heard that the LTR450's are prone to 3rd gear tranny problems, but I've never owned one to be able to say for sure.

IDK if you're even considering a Honda TRX450r, but they are also fun quads and even the first two years of them were reliable. No big engine or tranny issues with any model year, and you can find them cheaper than most YFZ's and LTR's. I love the stock kick-only starter on the '04 and '05 models. No worrying about a battery. lol.

I ended up getting a yfz 450!! Made a new thread in the Yamaha section for those who want to see it.
