ok so i have an 89 blaster, me and my dad rebuilt EVERYTHING, had top and bottom of engine redone by a dealership. got it runnin about 2 years ago. So i broke it in ran it through 2 full tanks before i started really givin her, its completely and had the oil injector put on it. heres the problem, you could fill it up full of trani oil and it would smoke like crazy and be extremely sluggish, after about a half an hour or more it would stop smoking and run great. next day id check the oil on flat surface and it was completely gone, since then i ended up running it dry and flattening out the roller bearings between the crank and connecting rod. i wana rebuild it again but what do i look for to keep it from happening next time, what was wrong with it? please help

^^2nd that, after my rebuild it burned tranny fluid cause that one seal wasnt set in perfect....so I had it re-done free of charge.

so if the trani oil is only sposed to be in the trani how do you think the bearings flattened out? the oil injection pump wasnt broken or anything it worked fine, did i just rev it too high or what?

no its because you ran it with no tranny fluid, damn if all you did was knacker the bearings then your lucky :) bad right crank seal, i 3rd that :)

i know it might be a stupid question but when you say you filled it up then checked the level on a flat surface? where did you fill up? you cant check the transmission by looking, unless you use the sight glass and i certainly wouldn't trust that :)

cmon guys.......the tranny fluid doesnt even go into the crank side of the motor unless its a bad seal......so running it outta oil will just cause bad clutch slippage and wear on the gears..........the crank and crank bearings are lubed by the 2 stroke oil that in the gas

ur bearings may have crapped out if ur oil injector failed thus providing no lube to the crank or bearings......a bad seal would also cause it to smoke real bad......there should only be oil half up the site glass

and thats warm...700ml after a rebuild and 650ml normally...thats right from the manual.

like freek said the only way to be burning that oil is a bad crank seal. how do you KNOW the oil injection was working properly?

I truly have no idea if the pump was working right, we bought it off ebay and all the gears and everything are good because when i took it off and spun it it worked great, i just wonder if it wasnt putting out enough oil or if the pump system just never really worked right

with the trani tho i would fill it up to the max line on the glass and check it again later and it was fine. if i rode it tho after letting it sit id check it and it looked like oil never even existed in that glass. So if i took out the crank bearings and there is metal all through the bottom end, is the motor shot or still salvageable? and how much do u guys think its gona cost me to fix this thing?

Lol sorry bro. Haven't had the money to put into her yet, she is sittin in the garage tucked away probably untill summer when ill hopefully have a lil more $

been there and done that bro, sorry to here that man, hope you get the green-backs soon! and get her screeming again.....and maybee in the mean time she will do like a good wine or woman and just get beter with some age(haha)good luck.....

why you say this? my friends still have theirs on the blaster and they haven't had a problem yet.

haha i hear that sometimes from guys around here. "oil injection is the sh*t, i dont know why anyone would ever remove it..." for me i took it off for peace of mind. there are guys that run the injection for yeeeaaaaarrrrss with no problems then there are the ones that get the bike and the injection craps out immediately, feeling luck? haha :o

what messes up the oil injections is dirt, lack of maintance and cleaning. if you check it and make sure you dont open the cap when it is dirty, you shouldn't have a problem with it.
