So I just picked up a blaster with bad top end. I pulled the top end and found copper speckles I'm pretty sure it was from the wristpin bearing but I have no history of the machine other then its got a .50 over wiesco piston that was trashed in the machine.

So I have no skills in rebuilding the lower end I was hoping some one could guide me on building a motor on a budget for trail riding as far as the parts go.

I would like to find some one in michigan who can build the motor if not I guess I could ship it out.

Just inspected the crank closer and you are right.

Are the vito's 3mm cranks reliable or is it better to have my oem crank rebuilt ?

Rebuild the stock crank. Best forgings you can get. Support your local shops and get what you get. Send it to the shop that's built over 300 Blaster engines and get what you pay for. KOR!

Can you give me a ball park for the bottom end and top end to be rebuilt if I sent it to you.

Many local shops will do great. Just find a good one that has had good results. A crankshaft is a crankshaft. Doesn't matter what engine. If they do a great job on V8's there isn't much of a chance that they will screw up your little Blaster crank. I have also had great luck with Vito's +3 cranks.

Vito's is about an hr from me Im just gonna order all the parts I need from them and a buddy is gonna help me build it.

only thing is I think the guy changed the jets there unmarked and do look like a real mikuni jet I pulled a real one out of my sled and they dont even look the same color.

So I dont wanna risk it. where do you guys think I should start with jetting wise.

3mm vito crank
stock pipe
stock porting
stock carb with oil injection removed.

I'd go with stock replacement crank if you don't even have a pipe yet. It won't give you any benefit really until you get a pipe and porting matched for the +3.

Ok here is the thing I'm living off a small budget and to save enough for a guy like ken or any other shop would take forever.

So I wanna build the lower end with the 3mm crank because once I get the blaster running I'm gonna save for a pipe and I'll probably port the cylinder.

Sorry I was responding to york racing.

I think I'd be more ok if I hadnt have got the engine in a box of parts
