break in disaster

okay so i went out and took the airbox lid off and i left the seat off too
started and ran at idle but hwen i gave it some gas it reved up but not like it should then right after it shut itself off it made a poof sound ,pretty loud but not bad so i guess i will have to wait till i get a new jet but what does that poof sound mean????

if you take it out of the airbox boot and intake boot so you can turn it so the bottom can face out, you can take that nut in the bottom off and then the main jet is right in the middle. then use a 8mm socket i belive to get the main out then put the new one in. the jet numberso n the bottom of the jet or the side. pull it out to check.

my carb does not have that nut on the bottom u are talkin about its a mikuni

you can reuse those spark plugs you know. just take a lighter to the tip and clean it off w/ a brass brush or toothbrush or something.
also, if you're plug is wet and black after an idle or low throttle then it's not your main jet that's reading rich, it's your pilot jet. try turning your air screw out 1 turn. actually, turn it in and count how many turns it takes to seat lightly. that will tell you where it's set at now. then turn it out 1 turn past where it was.
even w/ the airbox lid off, the idle circuit will still be rich unless you adjust the air screw.
also, if you do need to rejet the main jet, you will probably have 4 phillips head bolts under the bowl. this will pull off the bowl and you can get to the main and idle jets.
my guess will have to be that your original jug was ported and when you put on the new jug it wasn't. this would change your jetting a little.
also, before doin any of this, try jumping your tors wires that were on the throttle assy. you might need to close that circuit to get the bike to rev.

i tryed turning the screw on the exterior out and in but no changes so i put it back to 1and1/2
i do know that the old jug was NOT ported from stock ,only bored out
now,on the tors system , my machine is a 98 ,i thought that if it was older than 2003 you didnt have to do anything but unplug it all
also it will idle fine as long as i keep a small amount of pressure on the throttle
its when i try to rev it up it dies out

I removed the entire assembly when I did mine. I was left with a connector under the hood and all I did was cut the wires from the connector that used to hook into it, spliced them together and plugged them in. I figured if someday I needed to, I could just unplug the connector and take it with me for security. Anybody can bypass the key, but that extra step might confuse them.

Mine did something like that, my parking brake was barly hanging on and wouldent let the motor rev. But its a 06, i dont know if your blaster has that.

so i mess with the carb move the needle clip up one click so its at the top ,put it back together and now the throttle cable wont return all the way .
when i push the thimb throttle it doesnt engage till after half way towards the bar.
could this be the tors f*ckin with me???

Correct me if im wrong but your saying you put the clip on the very top of the needle??? With your mods that seems way way to lean.
