bought a 4 poker....

was look on craigslist the other day and stumbled upon a 89 suzuki lt 250... they wanted 300 obo for it...so i went to look at it and offer him 150 for it....loaded it in the back of the truck and off i went....its missing the rear plastics and has a tear in the seat and it needs a rear caliper but i have a buddy that has an extra so thats not a big deal....i cleaned the carb and put a new plug in it and it runs awesome..but when the quad is cold it wont start, you have to bump start it...but once you ride it for like 15 mins and shut it off, itll start up just fine....im stumped....any help would be awesome, but anyways onto the pics...

sounds like it needs new rings....it starts after running because the cylinder and rings have heated up and expanded giving u compression...when its cold the rings shrink down causing almost impossible starting from lack of compression

thats kinda what i was thinkin cause it is smoking a bit, havent done a compression check on it yet cause i dont have the right fitting for mine....

correct. The lt250s is a 4poker while the lt250r is a 2smoker.
For a $150 bucks, seems like a good find!

EDIT: just googled it and there are lt250s and its 4 stroke, so 245stroker you are right about the S being 4 stroke and R being 2 stroke

thats awseome man i almost bought a 230 quadsport for $100 from my teacher. all it needed that we knew of was a stator side cover. his son brought it home one day and my teacher said that he had 30 days to fix it or get rid of it or he would sell it and keep the money lol

so i started tearing apart the lt250 today...got it completely tore down basically, order rings and a bunch of other smalle things to get it back in order...will probly start a build thread on this thing...itll probly be done before my blaster...lol
