ok to get up to speed...

this blaster was bought for parts and ran when i got it, not perfect but better than now.

when i got it the air filter (red foam uni) was all ripped up and the air box was full of water and filter oil. i took the old filter off and replaced it with a vito's high flow air filter i knew that would lean it out but didnt know how much or if maybe they jetted it rich enough that it wouldnt hurt.

well.... after putting it on it leaned it out to the point i could hold the throttle in all the way but it would just rev like it was at 1/4 throttle...

i took the carb off to bring it home (this blaster is stored at my parents) got it home ripped the carb apart and what do i find lol when they added the uni filter, pro circut exhaust, aftermarket reeds (boysen?) THEY NEVER RE-JETTED it still had the 230 main. so i jetted it to 280 and took it back over

when i got the carb put back in and tried it out it would go fine till i went past 1/4 throttle then it would bog till it about died. so i reset the fuel/air screw and idle screw both to 1 1/2 turns out and put a new plug and fresh gas in

after doing all that it still seemed like it wanted to die after 1/4 throttle and i noticed its spitting oil out where the pipe/silencer joins and at the front where the pipe joins the cyl.

what am i missing here? 280 should be more than enough hell my blaster is modded a hell of a lot more and is only at 290

help me out here

ill have to check. does the needle that big of a differance? i was under the assumption that the needle adjustment was for tiny adjustments when going a whole jet size up or down would be too much

any chance i just went up too many sizes and now its so rich it wont run? i went strait from 230 to 280 because its got a pro circut pipe and vito's high flow air filter.

The pilot jet is for idle to 1/4, needle is for 1/4 to 3/4 throttle and the main jet is for wide open. So your main jet won't effect bottom end of your throttle and you said it's good to 1/4 so yes I would check where your clip is. Start in the middle, it should run and adjust from there.

the needle clip postion makes a HUGE difference, it will affect it right off idle to 3/4 thottle, it has the biggest play in how you bike runs, main jet is for wide open pretty much, also important,

if its bogging or cutting out (not crackling and blowing smoke which would be rich, your needle is either too lean or maybe the flaot boal isnt set right,

you can also check the reeds to see if they arent damaged or anything. if so replace it and see how it runs.
