im in the prosess on fabricating my own swing arm +4 longer thn factory any tips that anyone can give me. im using a 1x2 1/8 rectangular tubing n using the same factory front mounts n carrier..
For what it's worth, I made a +4 swingarm a year ago. Everybody seems to figure +4 is the way to go so that`s what I did. Now I'm building a +2 because I really didn't like the way the +4 changed the character of the machine on the terrain I ride on.
To be more specific, lengthening the swingarm takes weight (and traction) off the back wheels and puts more weight on the front end. Our trails have lots of rocks and fallen trees etc that are best taken with the front end light and or in the air. A longer swingarm makes it more likely to just get wheelspin and plow into stuff. Also significantly makes the machine less nimble on tight trails due to the longer wheelbase. Another small point is that it adds more weight. And really, light weight is one of the Blasters best attributes.
Obviously, this is all just my opinion, take it with a grain ( or pound ) of salt.
