So I was recently given this 2002 Blaster. Friend did not want it anymore because he never had time to ride and it just stopped running. I rebuilt the carb, did an oil change and went to start it up and nothing happens. I have a good coil brand-new spark plug, I am just not getting any spark to the cylinder. Me and my dad thinks it may be the CDI thats just gone out on it. We checked all the wiring and that just seems to be my final conclusion that it is in-fact the CDI. Is there any other places we need to check before we go and spend some money on something that is not needed. Thanks for any input!! I:I

Cant wait to start the adventures!

Get your self a manual, and follow the no spark/no start troubleshooting guide, that will tell you what part is faulty. Also if it's all stock could be something with the TORS, unplug that from the throttle box and from the large silver box on the carb try to start it, if it works get a tors delete off ebay and have a nice day!

Thanks for the input slick! The atv is actually right out back here at my shop, I got nothing to do atm so I'll check it out now. :D

tors stator or cdi prolly the only reasons. I have had stator go out just like that running one minute stopped the next. i would go with bad stator if it were me

UPDATE: Got the CDI in off of ebay, it fired right up!!! Another question for you guys though, the atv sat for about 2 years and the tires stay locked up when you are not hitting the accelerator. I ride it around the parking lot real easy just to make sure the tires do spin and its not completely locked up. Any suggestions on what would cause it to just stay locked up? I can not roll the atv in neutral because of the back tires not rotating. Maybe I just need to clean the gears?

EDIT: The tires spin when I am on the accelerator, as soon as i let off the throttle it comes to a stop pretty quickly then dies.

rear brakes are locked up i suggest just buying a new one bine locked up on me and i had to beat them off with a hammer to get them off but from what iv heard u really dont want to get into tearing the brake calaper appart i bought mine for 20 bucks

Yes, rear brakes. I would go talk to awk08 and ask about his hydro brakes. Theyre great anf if there in your budget they are alot better than the crappy stock ones!

yea, the brakes were stuck lol. Only issues I am having with it now is the idling and running right issue. There is an oil line that goes into the carb. it is really loose and is leaking oil. It feels like it has threads like a nut shoulld be screwed in there to keep it tight. any idea?

Oh and I can't keep it idling to save my life. Itll run though.

EDIT: I think I need to adjust my throttle cable a bit to keep it open just a tad to give it air. I already cleaned carb, and did the whole idle checklist that I SEARCHED for (mr. slick) lol.

It is very important that that oil fitting be leakproof, it controls lubrication.

Slip the brass collar off with a scredriver and pull and wiggle the pipe until it comes off.

Cut about a 1/4" off the pipe and put back on and slip the brass fitting back on.

If it has been sitting for 2 years, I would bet there is a build up of white crap in the carb giving problems.

A carb clean, and a leak down test is in order, to make sure gaskets/boot/seals have not dried caising air leaks.

I am toying with it right now and when I look at pictures of other carbs for sale, there is no fitting in that hole. My injector line has nothing to keep it in there. Is there supposed to be a threaded fitting? Or could someone post a picture of how it is supposed to look because I am confused.

EDIT: Here I took some pictures of the hole and the Line that is supposed to go in there. Tell me what you guys think....

This is one of the hole i am referring to.

Looks like the fitting has fallen out of the hole.

The hole that it goes into is the uppermost, above the vent hose, beside the little screwdriver slot, top left of the carb, not the one in the middle.

It should be a tight press fit.
