Hello all. I was trail riding yesterday and everything was going good. Then on my last lap I heard a loud rattling/knocking noise and then my blaster died. The kick start will not go down at all and it is locked. Im pretty sure that it is a rod bearing or some kind of bearing. I hope i dont have to do a bottom end rebuild. Can anyone let me know what is wrong? I will tear it down if no one buys it on craigslist because I do not have money for a rebuild.

Thanks.

Sounds like your top end blew and locked up the bottem when it shattered, definitly have to split cases and fish out the piston pieces and maybe bearings.

sounds like a rod/crank went bust, it'll need split and a new/rebuilt crank/bearings installed

If you can't fix it right away don't tear it apart, you'll probably loose parts/hardware reducing value if you sell. However, if you want to find out what happened, you can pull head, exhaust, or reeds, take a look then put parts back on and snug hard ware up. You can then either get an idea what it it will cost, or give an honest answer if you sell.

Good luck and let us know.

Here is an update guys I took the head off and the piston is intact and the reeds are fine. I put the bike in gear and the piston moved up and down. @ 98Blaster I was running Honda HP2 synthetic 32:1 mix its good mix ive always ran it in my quads and dirt bikes.

is there play in the piston up and down without the crank moving? anything more then .5mm or so and its prolly your lower rod bearing....

Could be the kick starter like larry said but I doubt it.
