Hey bf.... I was wondering if it's safe to put hi temp gasket maker on my base with my gasket just for an extra insurance policy I really wanna put a little gasket maker is it safe to do so ? Also is it possible to slide my cylinder on with my head already on my cylinder as long as my spark plug is out ? I just out a new head gasket in and don't wanna take my head off

skip the gasket maker on the base gasket, it will throw the torque off.
just use an OEM or cometic gasket, torque to spec, retorque after heat cycles, and all will be well.

and yes, you can leave the head on the cylinder

Thanks awk! And yes I just rebuilt my blaster yesterday and put a brand new OEM base gasket and the front is leaking a little bit and it's just weird

you did the heat cycles and retorqued ?
thats to "set" the gaskets and may seal up

I was doing heat cylces and saw oil on the front of the cylinder so I shut it down that's why I think I have a leak

prolly oil from the exhaust, a leakdown test will tell you for sure.

I am somewhat concerned that a new OEM base gasket is leaking, I have never known a bad one!

Were the surfaces of the cylinder and cases cleaned properly?

Is there any damage to the cases that would cause the cylinder not to sit flush?

Did you use any sealant or oil on the gasket?

Were the nuts tensioned down correctly, 18ft lb, diagonally and incrementally (a little bit at a time)?

Did you use Loctite on the threads?

Did you leak test before starting the heat cycles?

I've finally figured it out and it's from my exhaust a little bit of oil is coming out of the bottom of my fmf flange but nothing major at all but it's just odd because it didn't do it before I rebuilt it

You will need to seal up the exhaust before you ride it, because if oil can escape so can pressure.

The exhaust should be leak free or it may run lean and cook something!
