Best Air Intake Setup?

Rather than start a new thread, I thought it would be appropriate to ask here. I just removed my air box lid tonight. My blaster is completely stock except for a KN filter. I was wondering what it's supposed to sound like. After removing the lid and putting the seat back on and going for a ride, it is much louder without the lid, but it sounds so badass. I just want to make sure its supposed to be this way before I cause any damage.

Jbblaster- where did you get that lid, or did you make it? I want one. lol

Do not forget to rejet after opening up your airbox.

Does it seem louder while riding it, or watching someone else ride it? What you're likely hearing is the intake noise that the lid used to muffle.

^^^I will check that this weekend, as I don't plan to ride again until then. When I bought the quad it had the KN on it already. I bought it used from a very reputable dealer and I know it was jetted correctly before I bought it. I pulled my plug a few weeks ago and it had a small amount of oil on the tip, indicating it was a tad rich. I think I should be ok with the jetting as is, but that will be changing when my exhaust comes in this week. Thanks for the reminder though, I don't have much experience at all with carbs, so I'm not looking forward to pulling it apart and rejetting.

That's what I believe it is. My truck is the same way-- Once I installed my KN CAI on that, is was noticable louder, even at idle because you don't have the "airbox" to muffle the sound. I don't let anyone else ride it, so I don't know about that, but it is definitlely noticeably louder than with the lid on even while idleing. But man, it does sound awesome when you open her up. I:I
