been looking into a new axle since i bent mine jumping a ice shove yesterday.. bent it good!! both sides bent!!! any some ppl on 3ww mentioned gettin the axle straightened.. one guy said the shop that does his axles said strenght wont be comprimised untell after its been bent and straightened repetely..

anyone had this done before?? any what kind of shop would do this?? we have a auto machine shop here that straightens cv axles and driveshafts... and aplace that makes custom driveshafts... one of them places?

I've had an axle straightened before. Everything worked fine and it held up. Any place with a press should be able to do it.

better get 'er done soon, thats gotta be hard on them axle bearings

^^Yeah, you should be OK having that axle straightened^^. Anytime you straighten a metal shaft that has been bent, the shaft is weakened. It will also never run 100% true again. However, provided that the straightening is done properly, you won't notice any out-of-true problems, and the axle should last OK. The possibility exists that it could break on you later, but the chances are slim, to none. Straightening the axle you have sure beats the Hell outta spending a couple hours and hundred $$ putting in a new one. :D

Lol. I put the 'disclaimer' in my post, just b/c I work as a lawnmower tech and see bent crankshafts all the time. I follow the industry recommendation and never straighten them. However, a buddy of mine has tweaked a couple hundred in his lifetime with a sledge hammer and never had one fail....

thanks guys thats what i wanted to know.. mines not severly severly been.. noticable.. but not massive..

ifi were to buy a new one.. well used... local parts guy wants 120... and a guy on 3ww had a hd racing durablue axle.. for 120 and a nasa hd racing axle for 100... . ebay cheapest was 75 for a used good one

I had one done a few years back and it held up great, but it wasn't that cheap either.I spent around $70 to get it straightened.

Thats what you need to watch. Labor is not going to be cheap at a machine shop or drive shaft shop. Hell, we charge 105$ an hour with a minimum of two hours. You best bet is to just go with a new axle unless you are going to do it yourself.

if i was closer to you and i had more time you could bring that thing here i have a hydrulic press.. we did an old cv shaft from a grizz like 3 years

dude i wouldnt spend that kinda money when you could spend a couple extra and get a durablue, i would jump on that! i paid $300 for my LSR with a $100 discount!

will cost me 150 shipped for the durablue... i dont have that kinda cash to shell out right now.. and im not gonna let my machine sit.. its a ride and it wil lbe rode this weekedn.. so ill get it straightened
