**THIS ISN'T M QUAD*** But it gave a good picture of my problem. Ok so washing it the other day i noticed there are two nuts where the red outline is. I don't know what they do or what they are for but the bigger outside on was just "floating" around on the axle not screwed on anywhere. I was wondering what they do and hopefully if nothings changed if I can just screw the bigger one back into place and call it good?

those 2 nuts, hold your axle into place, and either of them loose is a quick recipe for disaster.
make sure/get the inner one tight, if it isn't
use a little loc-tite on the threads and tighten the outer one against the inner. it is a jamb nut, so put some ass into tightening it

The method of tightening is to tighten the inner nut to a preload of 40 ft lbs, then tighten the outer one to 140 ft lbs.

Then unscrew the inner one to 170 ft lbs whilst holding the outer one , this will lock the nuts together.

Have u rOde ur blaster with the axel nuts lose? Like awl said that could be a recipe for disaster it would be wise to not only tighten them but also to check for any damage that could have happened from riding like that

Well we went mudding and trail riding all day (about 6 hours) and i only noticed it when i got home to wash it so who knows how longs it's been unscrewed like that lol. The axle didn't fall off so thats good at least. I'll have to check things out and get it all back together and hope nothing is wrong

It seems that the stock axle nuts come loose from time to time. If the sprocket hub hasn't damaged the splines on the axle, you can get away with just re-tightening the nuts and it should be fine.
