anyone cut the airbox for 30mm carb

I don't have pics but all I did was cut the end of the air filter tube off and use a piece of 2" PVC pipe with a 2"-2 1/2 rubber adapter. All from lowes.

i never cut mine, but i use fishpaste bottle, wedged it in the intake boot and put it in a pot of boiling water to remould the boot to fit the carb, worked brilliantly, still, i do need a new airbox but just to make my life easier with taking off and putting on the carb while jetting.

I cut the end off mine and the little bracket piece thats molded to it. Then I took a heavy duty turbo silicon intercooler coupler and some yamabond (actually Toyota FIPG - pretty much same stuff), and I mocked it up, clamped the coupler to the airbox tube, yamabonded it (before I put the coupler on and clamped it), and now its like.. a solid piece. The coupler should be able to go up to a 36-38mm carb, and it will seal down to my 28mm clamp.

Everyone seems to have their own way of doing it.

I cut the end of mine off and used a piece of 2.5 pipe. Clamped that in the remaining boot then used a 2.5 to 2.25 silicon reducer to go to the carb.
You may need a smaller reducer for a 30mm, as mine is 35mm.
I'll try to get a pic for you.

man I'm confused all I know is mine fits snug with a slightly bigger clamp. and it sucks a lot of air in.

On which side? I was assuming we were talking about the airbox side. A stock intake manifold can take up to a 30mm carb with a little hot water to soften it. You may be able to stretch the airbox side out also.
Above 30mm you have to dremel out the manifold, but it starts to get thin and prone to cracking.
