hi, ive recently bought a second blaster as it had a lot of extras on it, the problem is that the guy i bought it from has no info about the bike as he bought it like that from someone who also knew little about it.

i was wondering if the are any differences in the engines between years? my 1st blaster is a 2000 and the new one is a 2002. the 2002 engine has a larger 6 bolt reed block where as the 2000 has a 4 bolt reed block and so does my friends 2003 blaster, that is the main difference that i have noticed at the minute but it has also had a re-bore and sleeved barrel, reed block, larger carb (still to measure) and full pipe. other that these mods i dont know anything about it except it goes a lot better than my standard engine.

a friend of mine thinks this could possibly be an aftermarket top end as it doesnt have the yamaha logo stamped into it which he says they usualy do have, i first thought that it may be some sort of old air cooled yz 250 head or something like that, that was just a guess though. i have noticed that it has "299 harris" stamped onto it, could this be a tuner name?

i will get some pics up later so you may be able to shed some light on the situation

thanks

no differnce between years you my friend have a ct 240 big bore cylinder it uses 250r reed cage and has a way better port lay out then the stock cylinder in short terms best big bore cylinder you can get
its awsome that you made out like that usaly your being told it is a 240 blaster when its realy just .040 over
but lucky you get more than you wanted out of it now lets see some pictures.

At some point in the model run the shift star was welded. I'm not sure what year they changed that but either way, the two are compatible. The only difference is if you want to mod the shift star...

sweet, thanks guys. i'll get some pics up when i go to my friends house where the engine is.

just out of interest, what kind of money are these to buy?

since stripping it down to have a look a ring wear ive noticed that the sleeve has twisted around 3-4mm so i need to get that fixed before i can rebuild it, not sure where to go at the minute though.

If you got a larger 6 bolt reed cage then you have a CT Sonic cylinder kits they are available in two basic packages: 200cc to meet AMA youth race rules and the unrivaled 240cc big bore package. The 200cc cylinder utilizes and aluminum sleeve and Nikasil plating to offer maximum cooling under race conditions. And la sleeve sells the sane cylinders...
