im building this for a memeber on everything2stroke.com this one is for an lt250r quadracer.. it is getting a +2 extension and anti-vibe clamp.. cheaper alternative to the $300 stems..

stronger than stock... the upper part where they always bend can be sleeved. i ask before i do em cause it adds some weight. they are all sleeved where they are extended. so as strong or stronger than stock. whatever the customer wants.
made more progress on this tonight it is almost done.. gonna be a sweet setup..i need to start building this stuff for my own quads..
im going to take this as you dont have any welding experience..
no i did not try to leave the rubber bushings in. they would have melted away to nothing.
the metal will turn cherry red when you lay a nice hot weld that burns in really well.. thats how mine are I:I
yeah those bushings would have been liquified really quick.

I used CR mounts & made the tubes with the tapers inside. Lotsa bikes use the rubber mounts but I think the street bikes are usually pretty big.
I wasn't too concerned about weight and was too lazy to pull the stem out to mod it.
Here's a set on ebay, a little expensive w/shipping ... the aluminum would polish up ok but the bolt on the left one looks like it may be bent. I got a set for $10.

Here's a rough drawing of the inside tapers on my 87 cr250. All this stuff is cr250 related cuz that's what I had to copy. You can use stuff from any bike that suits ya. Just showin y'all a stem don't have to cost a fortune since ya know StrokedTater244 can weld one up for ya. The tapered tubes are simple to produce on a lathe.
