Guess I could have done a better prep and paint, but since I'm just gonna put my filthy boots on it, it seemed pointless.

exacly what kind of metal is that?

The top portion was some 1/4" mild steel round bar left over from something else. The zig-zag? was some 3/16" also left over. The difficult part was welding with 1/8" rod which is sorta over sized for that kinda material. A little 110v mig gun would be perfect I think.
