So i am looking into doing a rebuild. Looking around the project blaster site as well as here. At first I just wanted to rebuild the top end and get a port job from xxx engine builder on this site.(so many mixed reviews its hard to choose) And now thinking of the airsal kit. probably the 200 standard.
So....
I dont want to use race gas and i want to be on some kind of budget. WHich is more cost effective?? I dont mean cheaper, just good power for good money thats all.

Also, with the standard 200 do i have to...should i....upgrade the carb??

Mods now are shearer exhaust, 14 tooth front sprocket.

what is your budget? it is hard to make recommendations without knowing the budget. personally I would have one of the builders work over your stock cylinder and get a carb to match the porting (most likely a 35mm pwk) and a good heavy duty clutch kit. other wise I would get the la sleeve 240 kit (currently $598 and i believe that it is better than the vito's 240 if only because of the forged piston) and a 35mm pwk air styker carb (recommended by builders over the non-a/s 36mm) and call it good. you could get the 240 kit a carb and a port and polish for less than $1000. or get the carb and a port and polish on your stock cylinder for @ $500 (if your sleeve is still good and i would not get port-work on a sleeve that has more than one or two re-bores on it). I have been told that a stock cylinder has snappier throttle response and is better in the low to mid and will outrev a 240. however, a 240 kit with equal mods is going to make much more mid to top power and will be plenty strong down low (especially if you go with a stroker- which adds less than $200 if you do the work yourself). either way you are easily looking at 30-35 whp.

my budget is probably going to be around 5 to 6 hundred. my ideas for this thread were to get some info like what you just posted. a few options and the breakdown on money. i would love to have somewhere around 30 to 35 hp. thats the goal. so i guess i will get in touch with a builder on here and discuss my goal.
until then more input is appreciated

thanks

I would also recommend that you call Flotek, Kennedy, and Wildcard all of which are site sponsors and have done work for members with excellent results. Tell them what type of riding you do, the kind of powerband you want, and how much you want to spend and they will get you some quotes. I have personally spoken with both Denny @ Flotek, Angus Kennedy, and have just bought a piston kit from Brandon @ Wildcard. They all are know their stuff and have been great to work with and each of them have their fans. I:I

i would p&p, carb, and reeds it! and extended swingarm. and or suspension. yanno but thats just me man.

ohh yeah! lol...I did forget the reeds. I would go with VF3 reeds if it is in the budget and at the least you should use aftermarket factory replacements. thanks for the remind X! Once you get to this power level you are really going to notice how bad the stock suspension is-- that is why I did my suspension first before adding power. But, if you can live with the stock shocks you are going to be amazed at the power the little old Blaster can make!

LA Sleeve does sell a 240 sleeve that presses into your stock head as well. I have known people to run them and they seem to make quite a bit of power. Sleeve the stock head, call flotek have it ported, v force 3s anda good exhaust and you are ready too go.

isay get the arisal standard its already ported and polished u can run a stock head it has nickasol lining (sp) and makes great power all for about what it would cost for the lining and the p+p so idk, and get boysen if vf3 not in yur budget, u have a good pipe and y not get a 34 pwk or pj carb

Even though i dont have a Ported and Polished blaster, i'd still like to make recommendations.

FIRST:Get stock head P&P from Wildcard- $130, Flotek- $150, or Kennedy- cant find price, check for yourself @ kennedypowersports.com
SECOND:Head shaved under .35 (if above that you have to use race gas)- $100
Third:VF3's- $130@vito's website
Fourth: Get the Keihin PWK 35mm carb-$225@vitos website
Fifth:K&N clamp on filter to carb (if your not doing trail riding or riding in much water)- around $50@k&n website
Last:do a plug chop to see if running lean or rich-
Edit: Also get a nice pipe like, Shearer, F7, Toomey, LRD. if your on a low budget get an FMF SST pipe. Dont get a FMF Fatty because they are a low end power pipe.
Hope this helps
