That might not be a bad idea, do you have any pics of that set-up? I got rid of the clunky clamp cover and relocated the ignition switch, I was also thinking about a billet clamp like you have just to bling it out. The graphics were an EBay special that I cut to fit. The front background is from a yfz450 and the rears that I haven't mounted yet were made for me by a friend in Auburn who does custom vinyl.

It can be welded but I would just make an L bracket and bolt it on.make sure to use fender washers to help spread the load out to a larger area. That will reduce stress cracking.
