air filter maintenance

it depends on the filter you have. i have a uni foam filter on the back of my carb and i clean and oil it after every other ride. i just use dawn dish soap and water and wash it until all the dirt is out of it and the hang it up to air dry. once its dry i use maxima spray air filter oil. but if you have a k&n style then i think you have to get a cleaning kit.

you dont have to clean it that much. i just clean my air filter and replace my plug regularly to keep my blaster top notch. but just clean it like once a month or when you can see its dirty. its all up to you when you want to do maintenance.

alright man. no problem. thats what were here for. if you have anymore questions, just start a thread and im sure one of us can help you out.

i like to use Notoil oil and cleaner, its biodegradable and the oil cant be removed without the cleaner, when its dirty, fill a basin with water add some cleaner and drop in the filter, its amazing how well it works.

you need only clean the filter when its dirty, if you ride in dusty places or in a pack with other dudes causing dust, you need to do it more often

a personal rule of thumn i use is to simply touch the filter, if you get all oily your good as long as it doesnt look dirty. but if its clean looking but not oily you need to do a service. and you CANNOT over oil a filter, just make sure to do it when its like 60* and after oiling it leave it to set for like 12 hours then run it.
i like to oil mine and put it into a big ziplock to soak in real good. but everybody does it different.
