air box cleaning

What is the best method used to clean out a gunky airbox?
I have some brake cleaner that I could use, but i dont wanna melt the plastic. also I dont have a pressure washer.
Is it safe to use brake cleaner?

have you tried cleaning it out with gasoline?

use the brake cleaner, it'll be fine. that's what i used to get all of the sh*t off that was left from the graphics/stickers

no , ive been doing a little chopping to my set of abused black plastics. Tryin to do away with the rear fenders but still gotta have an airbox. but damn it is filthy in there. ill try a little gas and see what happens. thanks.
btw ill post up some pics of my progress after its finished.

brake cleaner will work fine and won't hurt anything

pull the drain, dawn dishsoap and hot water. same thing you use to clean your airbox.
